In a race that saw only nine fences jumped owing to the low lying sun, newcomer Rock On Jet led from an early stage and had many of his rivals under pressure well before two out, however second-timer Backmersackme found plenty late on to join issue at the last and ultimately won a shade snugly under the in form Alan O'Sullivan. Last season's Tralee fourth will now be offered for sale.
